The Power of Mighty Memos: A Pocket-Sized Proof of Self-Care

Every morning, before the demands of the day take over, I reach for a small pocket notebook. It’s not a to-do list. It’s not a journal filled with deep reflections. It’s something much simpler—yet incredibly powerful.
I call it my Mighty Memos notebook.
In it, I record the smallest wins. Not major milestones, not life-changing achievements—just small, everyday moments that remind me I am taking care of myself. A 10-minute walk. A conversation with a dear friend. A family dinner. A small win at work. Some days, my only mighty win is the glass of lemon water I always start my day with. And that’s enough.
This habit started as a way to build self-esteem and self-compassion. It became especially useful during some tough times when looking after myself was more important than ever. As a natural born empath, I often put everyone and everything else first. But looking back at my Mighty Memos, I could see proof that I was showing up for myself, even in the smallest ways.
Why does this matter? Because in order to create change in our lives, our brains need proof that we are becoming the person we want to be. By tracking these small acts of self-care, we reinforce progress, build confidence, and develop the identity of someone who takes care of themselves.
If you’ve ever felt like you’re not doing enough, try this: grab a small notebook and start recording your Mighty Memos each morning. Keep it simple. Keep it consistent. Over time, you might be surprised at how much you’re actually doing for yourself.
What’s a small win you had yesterday? Let’s celebrate them together.
